I use a Excel spreadsheet, not sure if I can copy straight to google docs. Got the idea from someone here on CT, can't remember who though.
Like Carthago, I use FileMaker Pro because I like being able to customize the layout. I'm very behind in updating my FileMaker database though, and now I want to do a major remodel to something more like Carthago's layout .
@icerain Would you mind sharing your template with me? I am completely incompetent when it comes to the most basic Excel sheets. I've been looking to create a database for a while but I've had very little luck with my attempts so far. I can pm you my email if you'd like
Lots of interesting ways to track coins in this post! Oh yeah, nice RR coin! How do you format your spreadsheet? I have a worksheet for each coin and then summarize my collection on the front two sheets in chronological by purchase date and then mint date order. I was not aware XL could hold pictures. Something new to learn! This looks like a great option.
@rrdenarius if you are interested, I can send you an example of my Excel spreadsheet. If you think it will work for you, you can build off of it. Adding images is very easy. Anyway, just PM me if you are interested.
Does it matter for this use which version of Filemaker Pro you use? I see references to 12 through 15 online.
I use 14. I've upgraded a couple times and frankly see no difference so I'm not going to again anytime soon.
