My example is in a PCGS AU55 holder and is the highest graded there. At NGC there is two in 61. I know at least one is a 61* because I bid on it in a HA auction. I do think these are readily available raw. Most are VF. Start drying up in XF and just a handful in AU. MS almost unheard of. I think with all hammered coins though the issue can often be with finding examples well struck and with full legends in any grade. My minimum requirement for Edward was that I wanted to be able to see both his eyes haha.

Well this one definitely has both eyes. It amazing that they apparently had such difficulty in making these things 1500 years after Rome was able to produce large module (Sestertius & tetradrachms) coins with fine details.

Thanks also for the info on the scarcity in higher grades.

There has been recent experimental archaeology on this
conundrum and the conclusion was that the Romans were striking their coins on heated blanks, allowing a much deeper and longer lasting impression. This technique was lost in Britain after the Romans left and so, when striking the larger coins, they were unable to achieve the definition.
