The only thing I would be afraid of if you sent it in may get a cleaned designation or details, that would be my only concern nice coin regardless.
Considering the quality of the material you post, you might want to up your conservation game a little bit (?) I have very good experience with the Quadrum Intercept coin capsules from Lighthouse: https://www.leuchtturm.com/square-coin-capsules-quadrum-intercept.html
@MaryContrary You said you found the Cleveland. Where? I have several of the commemorative halves that I found in change back in the 50's.
I was left a couple of boxes of coins by a lawyer that I worked for after he passed away back in 2012. I've been slowly going through them. The Cleveland was among them. I would return them all in a heartbeat if it would bring him back.
It is a nice coin. If I may ask, are you going to start collecting Classic commemorative, or just bought this one because it grabbed your attention? I would venture to say a lot of us have loose coins that we are keeping just because we like how they look, or their history and if that's where you are at, I would spend the money to have it slabbed to better protect it down the road, or self slab it. You could also buy one already graded. Good luck.
The first thing we do, lets kill all the lawyers. W. Shakespeare/ Henry VI Apparently, your lawyer wasn't one of those. Sorry for your loss.......it sounds like he was indeed a grand fellow.
I might have some Commemoratives...I'm not sure yet. I haven't finished looking through all of my coins. I will post them if I do. I want to keep the coins safe for sure and plan on keeping all of them.
A comedian makes a joke comparing lawyers to a-holes. A guy in the audience jumps up and shouts, "I object to that comparison!" The comedian, after apologizing, asks, "Are you a lawyer?" The guy replies, "No, I'm an a-hole!"
