I managed to turn my grandson into a coin crazed lunatic. Now he has turned my great grandson (his nephew) into a mini coin junkie. He has saved his money and bought his first Peace dollar and a little toy locking safe to keep it in….. Totally reminds me of myself fifty years ago…. Sorry for bragging. I couldn’t help myself.

Great start! Make sure he doesn't find an eraser, toothpaste, or some Ajax to "shine it up" like we did when we were kids:hilarious::hilarious:

I thought I was a brilliant somebody when I found that a pencil eraser would make and old cent bright and shiny. I apologize to anyone that ended up with my eraser cents as a kid.

Will great-grandpa be a source of funding for these future collections?

Of course. They live halfway across the country from me. I have a very good relationship with a very nice lady that runs a first class coin shop close to their home and I set them up with a little coin shopping spree just this afternoon at that lady’s shop.

Let me think about that for a minute. Kidding Randy, get out there and spoil them.

@Randy Abercrombie I have a 17 month old daughter in need of a coin grandpa if you’re interested…

I know you’re enjoying being able to introduce them to new and fun things!! Keep up the great and important work!

I love when my grandbabies sit next to me show me their folders. I usually fill them but they tell which one they wish for next

Yes, I discovered that coin cleaning method when I was in the 9th grade, I think. Fortunately i abandoned that method of “preservation” very quickly.

The grandfather part leaves me out, but other than that, I am a good guy that always supports the youngster interested in the hobby. Amazing how many youngsters are smart as hell. These are not the Beany Baby/Barbie collecting generation.

They definitely want somebody to show them the money. Cash or it didn't happen seems to be the mantra.
