If anyone has any insight into this counter stamped buffalo/Indian head nickel, it would be greatly appreciated. I saw another member has a coin with the same exact stamp (but positioned over the original date). Here are some photos
So it's just coincidence that someone has a different nickel with the same backwards 4? I dunno, seemed very odd to me
Yes it is.. Just a coincidence! Maybe the same bored person that was damaging these coins did them around the same time. Not an error coin and not a rare collectible. I have actually seen others myself over the years.
I certainly didn't think it was an error coin. Just wondering if it was a well know counter strike possibly used for advertising or political agenda. Or if there was any kind of known meaning behind it. I care about the history, not the value. I'm new to this site but by no means am I new to numiastics.
Do we really have to encourage all of the numisbidiots to believe that this sort of thing is worth something? Chris
I'm not clear on the definition of numisbidiot. So if you could clarify? Surely you aren't referring to me?
Well I enjoy pieces like this and if I ponder the coin for a couple of minutes, sometimes I find aspects of interest. Any stamped/personalized coin is of interest to me. Thanks, Smarch

All I'm saying is it would fit fine in a random date low grade buffalo lot. And there are people who like oddities, even though they are few and far between.
Fine! I'll just dig out my number and letter punches and mess up some coins for the bidiots to buy. I'll even go as far as putting some of the digits upside down and then dirty up the coins with some grease or something. That should help them get a stupid price. I made up the word "bidiot" more than 11 years ago because the NGC forums were very strict about using offensive words (like idiot) to denote a bidder on eBay who didn't know what they were doing. Just add the "numis" prefix to bidiot. No, I wasn't referring to you, but I think that some of our more knowledgeable members should make it a point to let the newbies know that coins like this are not worth much. Instead, they just say something like, "Let them collect what they want." which teaches the newer collectors in numismatics nothing! Chris
Who would even make a punch that was a reverse 4? Where would you buy such a thing? If the numeral on the punch has just the right shape you could turn it a quarter turn clockwise, and that might look like a reverse four. Don't let the immediate harsh reply put you off - I have learned a lot in these forums.
Summer Lovin, here are some Buffalos you might like. They are called Hobo Nickels, but you probably already know that. BTW....welcome to Coin Talk.
