@Amberlarry22 Hey, where did you find it. Just curious is all. Anyone know if this a Bold or Shallow "N"? Nice find!!
One of the more valuable dates. Might be the shallow N variety. All details of the N are present but the middle bar in the E of CENT looks to be of the shallow variety.
I noticed this is a key date Indianhead Cent. Being a Bold N. Is there actually value other than a couple of bucks? I know the coin is in very poor condition, but there is a date! Lol
If that is indeed an 1871, then that's quite the roll searching find. The shallow N seems slightly more desirable, but the bold N is still worth a decent amount. In that shape, maybe 50 bucks?
Wow! I had no clue as to what I found! I was just thinking a very beat up Old Cent. Thanks for your feedback Lon. Appreciated!
Further inspection! I believe its a 1974. To much evidence showing! I just thought I would check the date closer! I'm glad I did. Sometimes its to good to be true.
I was wondering. Which is why I said "if it is a 1871". All 1874 have the bold N, as well. Still a good roll searching find as an 1874, though. I've found 2 or 3 IHC in my days searching.
I was really thinking it looked more like a 1, but after checking images, I see that the 1871 had its date curved (maintaining a constant distance from the rim), while the 1874 had the digits along a flat baseline. Your coin clearly has the straight-baseline date. That seems pretty conclusive. Still beats the heck out of anything I've ever found in a bank roll. Congrats!
