very very nice bustie... I'm on the line between vf and xf but will call in xf40
as for value.. the big question is reeded edge or lettered edge...
    lettered about 250-300
    reeded about 4k
either way a very sweet bustie :D

I will go EF 40. It has some nice detail. The coin looks like it had an old dipping, or light cleaning, but I think it is market acceptable. Attractive coin. Can’t see the edge to know if it is lettered or reeded.

VF and lettered edge. The reverse on the reeded edge spells out 50 cents.

    (Not my coin)

Bust it out of the holder, put it on a south facing window sill and allow it to sit there for a month or two (all the while flipping and turning it) after which, you place it in your pocket along with your other unwanted pocket change and allow it to live there for a months time. Upon that, you re-submit said example to PCGS and it comes back to you with a proper grade..........or, if like me, you cut it out of its' plastic tomb, put it in a simple, humble, 2x2 and enjoy what God intended in the first place.

Thanks all for playing. Wasn't trying to deceive anyone. Just trying to get everyone's honest opinion. ;)
It was a good buy anyways and I'm happy with her.

I would envelope it, maybe even a newspaper, in the heat for a couple of days, then trap it in an album for a few years.

Does that acquire "toning" which will cover the old cleaning? I hate to break open a encapsulated coin even if it isn't graded. Should I habg on to the label for proof? You know, when I pass it on?

In the slab it maintains a "genuine" premium... in this case not a whole lot but just being slabbed/genuine makes it easier to sell later... on the other hand the above treatment could even earn it a clean grade later but only if you take it out of the slab :D I would crack it out and give it a shot myself... but that's me :D

Genuine is a no grade, usually because they thought the coin was too clean and not original surfaces.

How do I "crack" it open? What's the best way?
