Hello everyone, Yesterday I took a walk to NYC's Chinatown district to see some of my favorite shops. One is a hidden coin shop on Mott Street. The owner had this interesting NGC Certified medal from China. It's shaped like a Mini Slab within a NGC Slab. I picked it up for a decent price. The back has a Lenticular image. The image shifts when you move it side to side. I know it should of been posted over at the World Coins forum but I though it might get better views here
Dang that is cool. https://www.ngccoin.com/certlookup/4637777-028/70/ NGC database shows an edition of 200 pieces, some 69s mixed in. There are 5 or 6 for sale on fleaBay - except for the shipping ($10) from China, the BIN price would even leave some change from a pair of Jacksons.
You evil SOB... you just cost me $40 lol ok it was 35 but shipping made it 40 and I couldn't resist it.. That's one cool piece so thank you for sharing even if it did cost me lol
Imagines a day when there are grading services that grade our current holders and encapsulate them...
You've entered the twilight zone. It's not good enough that we have coins placed in plastic tombs. Then people put stickers on the tombs to rate the tombing company. (You went with THAT embalming company? Don't you know they'll put somebody else's organs in your canopic jar? It happened to my sister's friend's husband's aunt) Now a new company has arisen to banish all the entombers and the stickers. And finally, we have a tomb for a mini tomb. If Reality TV was one of the four horses of the apocalypse (thanks Noal Wiley - ER), this is another.
PCGS beat em by slabbing GSA morgan slabs https://www.pcgs.com/news/pcgs-encapsulates-gsa-hoard-silver-dollar
I kid you not. NGC (and maybe PCGS) grades these inside the Ministry of Finance holder. And now PCGS has slabbed the MoF slab. I am wondering if they will slab a stickered one... And here is my graded one... Now to get the NGC graded one into the other slab...
