I have acquired over time 4 of Henning's 5 known dates: 1939, 1944 (No P), 1946, and 1947; I am only missing the 1953 and hope to acquire one some day. Presented below are nice, HD photos I took from my collection along with a brief blurb. The 1939 with the Looped "R" in PLURIBUS - The second most common, but far, far scarcer than the 1944. The 1944 "No P" - the most common. Here is the one WITH the Looped R. ...with the Looped "R" and the reverse die crack... ...and WITHOUT the Looped "R"... The 1946 - the only one tougher to get is the 1953. These almost never come up for sale. The 1947 - the third toughest to find. It's on the first comment since I can't add any more to my opener...
I only have the 1946 amazing collection!!!you missed a 53 recently, one sold on the bay for $800-$900 a few months ago the only one sold within time as i can tell.
Yeah. The seller was actually supposed to sell it to me! He said he forgot. It sold in literally seconds. Ugh

Hi, I am new to CoinTalk. I was wondering if you could give me your opinion on a coin I found while looking through rolls of coins at my bank. I am not an expert coin collector but I do look for Silver coins in pocket change and rolls from the bank. While looking through a roll of nickels from a local bank I came across a 1943 nickel with no mint mark on the reverse. I looked into it and I came across the story of Henning nickels. I read the pamphlet by Stuckey that claimed Henning made 6 years of counterfeits but only 5 of the years are known. I think I may have found that 6th year. This nickel I have is dirty and blackened but I do not see a mint mark above the Monticello. It also has a curious line like some of the Hennings do on the reverse but it is under the letter I. I know that Henning was said to have dumped a large portion of the counterfeit nickels in a river in, I think it was Pennsylvania. I metal detect and the blackening on this nickel looks like when you get coins out of the ground metal detecting. I was just wondering what you guys thought. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.
Nice collection of nickels. I have one in my collection but don't recall the date. The 53 is rare. As a matter of fact, I don't recall ever seeing one. Bruce
@Insider You wanted to see some of these? Also, do you have photos of the 'fake' Henning nickels made by the Chinese?
hehe strangely enough I had to "test" a new payment method this week so I found a lil $1 BIN. On blowing up this pic I thought I saw both the die crack and the dot, and while not very clear in the pic there just might be a hole in the R. It should be here any day but these were the sellers pics (figured worth a chance for a buck and a test purchase lol) In the end it's all what the scale says now lol
