@potty dollar 1878 won the poll.

    Here is his virtual trophy.

This is an idea proposed by Amanda (@meandyou4ever0).

It is a contest for the most fun/interesting finds from circulation. Only items found “in the wild” (from change, found on the ground, a CoinStar machine reject bin, or coin roll hunting, for example) apply.

Contestants may not purchase their finds- they must be acquired from circulation (or found) for face value or less.

Multiple coins may be entered only if they’re part of a single find.

There will be ten contestants. Once ten different people have posted finds, we will have a poll to decide the winner. The winner gets bragging rights and a digital trophy. There may be some actual prizes awarded as well, just for fun.

To enter, post your find, and tell the circumstances of how you got it. Once ten different people have posted finds, we’ll have a poll to decide the winner.

    (Not an entry post)

I just eyeballed a corroded 1990-something zinc cent on a forest path in NC!

You can do better than this. ;)

@meandyou4ever0 needs to decide whether or not metal detector finds apply. I think those might have an unfair advantage.

You have unfairly raised the bar. How can any of
us top that. My white towel has been thrown
    into the ring.;);)

Got this CRH a little while back,by far my most unique find.My best estimate based on the 1944 and prayer design is it could've been a D-Day piece made by a soldier.79th anniversary a few days away and 80th next time(always remember). I found this in the laundry room of my apartment building in 2018; presumably, it fell out of someone's pants pocket in the washing machine. It's probably nothing special in Ghana, but it was an unusual find for Baltimore, Maryland, USA:

I had my first CoinStar find while in town last week. A lousy Zincoln that was almost beyond recognition. Photos on request. LOL

The only one I have is from a long time ago, (late 70's early 80's) I was allowed to go through a money bag of nickels at a bartenders kitchen table.
I found a few good ones but this one was the best of all.
It is a No hole in the R Henning Nickel. A no mintmark 1944 Jefferson.
Back then we didn't have internet, just a redbook and there was an italicized astersik-ed note from what I recall in the Jefferson nickel section that said "1944 nickels without mintmarks are counterfeit" or something close to that.

Well, here it is, bad picture, but I think I'll see if ANACS will accept it for grading at our local upcoming coin show. I always send a dozen coins off from there each year and save on shipping.

There are fibers showing over the coin from the clean padding in a jewelry-like box, not scratches. And ANACS won't grade it but might attribute it, I don't know?

I’m traveling and so will be in and out. Y’all help me keep track of the entries and number them off until we get ten actual entry posts. Then sometime after I get back home we can do the poll.

So many nice key and semi-key coins were available in circulation when I started collecting in the late 1940's. I found some very nice ones. I will watch this contest without making an entry.

    Oh, I like this question!
I received 2 Morgan dollars from a bank while asking for my usual coin roll hunting spread. So, kind of found coin roll hunting, just easier.
Also, a very slick walking liberty half from a roll one time.
    I will post pictures later!

I don't know what the most interesting thing I have ever found is.... I have found W quarters, a proof quarter, a few small errors and some silver dimes, a silver Canadian quarter once.... Probably the strike through I found though:

Thanks for the idea suggestion @meandyou4ever0, and @lordmarcovan for making it happen!
