Well hearing this kind of makes me disappointed. It sounds to me you had some good silver returns. I'm not sure how you return coins but I have to roll all of mine currently until I figure out my bank issue. I wish you good luck in what ever you want to pursue. I'm not sure if you can metal detect where you live but that can be just as fun and exciting of a hunt.

I know. It was fun seeing what you and Furry were getting each week. Besides the major slump I was in I just got too self conscious about dumping and all the noise it made. Didn't have the guts anymore.

I had some decent returns a few months ago. Then with 4 silvers in 18 boxes I got too discouraged. I'm going to buy and trade bullion for a bit and see if I can make a little dinero that way. With my two coin clubs and all the shows in my area I should have plenty of opportunities. Metal detecting sounds fun, I'll check into that, and I will check all the coinstar machines in my area frequently as there are a ton of them around me.

I like what you are going to do. I do however say that 4 silver halves in 18 boxes is better then what I get. I still do it because I am hoping I will eventually find a 90#er.

If you want to take a better photo, put the nickel on a table and rest the phone on the table too. Your photo has a lot of "motion blur" from your hands moving. Just a tip.

Looks like just that, a chip missing. Or perhaps another nickle didn't get clear of the maching and the edge of it was just covering this coin when it was struck, leaving the small missing bit. Hard to tell without having the piece in hand or a better pictures.
take picks from different angles and also on the opposite side from the chip, and the edge (rim) The direction the metal moves as it is compresses will tell a lot about this sort of error coin.

silver prices just shot through the roof. May be a good time to sell some and hunt for more. If you wait for silver to reach $28 again, you might get lucky, but you may be waiting a long long time.

I take decent pictures of coins with my Iphone by setting the coin on the surface of a table and then snapping a shot 3 1/2 to 4 inches above. I use an old empty box of dimes to rest the phone on and stabilize.

BMann, I also no longer routinely search boxes of halves. Best of luck in your endeavors.

Ace, if I was young again, and too young to hold a "real" job, I'd consider mowing lawns and the like to build up my CRHing fund. It is truly very easy to earn extra money if one is willing to do work others would rather not do, such as mow their lawn.

The funny thing is I have two jobs. I tutor and I work at the library. I make over 100 dollars a week. It all gets deposited in my bank account though, so that doesn't help me

Use it to roll search. Seems an easy argument. You get a better return probably than the .01% from a B&M bank savings account.

A teller friend of mine saved this for me.

It looks quite corroded, but it's an 1898-O Morgan. However, I have my doubts. It's not as thick as the 1923 Peace dollar I found a year and a half ago, and it doesn't have the high-pitched drop of a silver coin. I'll do some more testing to see if it's real (and if it's fake, I'm only out one dollar).

My weekend hunting started out with another brand new box of 2016-P cents. Hoping for better luck when I make the rounds to dump and pick up this morning.

Well I just found my oldest coin in a half dollar roll. It used to be a 1965 40% half.

So if it used to be a '65 what is it now? At least a 90%er right?

It is a cool find and my oldest foreign coin.
