Most definitely a well-circulated coin, so it has lots of wear for sure. But what do you make of the imperfections on the obverse? I thought they were interesting.
Oh please don't be sorry. I greatly value your opinion, my friend. I found it to be very interesting looking...and still do. Thank you so much for your help.
I'll tell you this Miss Mary..... Since 1982 the US mint has produced zinc cents with a minute layer of copper coating. That copper/zinc combination can act like a sacrificial anode if that copper layer gates scratched leading to all manner of odd anomalies. Myself, I have come to be suspect of any oddity on a cent minted after 1982..... Anyway, that wasn't meant to be judgmental of your cent. Just helping your coin collecting Jeopardy knowledge.
Abe got some extra lips. Looks like it only had time to get run over a couple times in the parking lot.
I am kind of surprised that you can't see in a white zinc color at the bottom of the holes. It might have something with the way a computer processes pictures in the .JPG format. Maybe you can see them in person.
Zinc does not tone brown; it just fades away and turns to dust. Perhaps the copper coating has been driven in below the surface.
