If hugh were to post something that didn't stop a thread in its tracks we'd naturally assume something was wrong.
What fascinates me about Hugh is not the fact he buys these coins. It is how he finds them to buy in the first place.
No doubt this is a killer coin, however I must say it actually looks to good to be true. Not that I'm saying it's not ,I've honestly can say I have never in all my years collecting have seen one that looks this good. It almost looks like Hugh got into a time machine ,went to the mint in 1898,and as soon as this cooled down to handle said ok I'll take that one!
The 1890's were arguably the decade in which the US Mint released its' finest-ever Proof strikes, before or since, across all issues. As stunning as it is, Hugh's 1898 isn't even Top Pop in DCAM for that year....
It was in the same bag as this. I chewed the folks at the pawn shop for doing such a thing. figured I'd better but it though.
