Is this a reverse of 79 on this 78 Carson City Morgan?

I know the coin has some wear, but unless I am mistaken the eagle breast on the reverse seems raised? Is this a reverse of 79 on this 78 CC?

With the rash of fake'o Morgans on ebay I wouldn't dare bid on that horse, unless it was holdered and vetted by LLoyds of London.....

 

Yes, based on the top fletching on the arrows it indicates a reverse of the 79. A reverse of the 78 would indicate fletching more inline with the other arrows.

 

There were no reverse of 79 on any 78-CC's.

 

The CCs are too big and some lower wreath leaf tips are floating too. Here's seller images for the future.

1878-CC had a different looking mintmark from later dates.

 

The reverse on this coin is not from an 1878-cc. There were no 1878-cc's with the reverse of '79.

 

It definitely is not a correct obverse/reverse pairing. It is counterfeit. Once again, don’t buy raw coins, unless you know the series well.

 

I didn't even make it past UNUM and the right obverse stars. Funhouse-mirror time.
