1982-D cent where Lincolns head does not appear to be fully formed. His eye and nose kinda fade onto the field instead of being a strong line.
Let's just call it worn and move on. Here's what it should look like. The profile is a little funny looking anyways.
A weak struck coin should show the weakness on the high points of the design and not so much the lowest points of the designs that are next to the field. Front of Abe's lapel is also weak. I might suspect a struck though debris, or design loss from the die being dressed off after a clash. Is there a small vertical line at the nape of Abe's neck. JMO.
That's not a Denver minted Cent. That Cent has no Mint Mark which means it was minted in Philadelphia.
Another duplicate post. Die polishing can also cause the appearance on the profile. There also evidence of die deterioration on the field near the rim. Worn Die can cause that appearance
It could be a weak strike, but I'm leaning towards worn die and plating issues. The rim is fully formed, so it seems that the strike was decent enough. But the loss in details could be related to failing plating and die polishing.
It is? I have been looking at the wrong coin for varieties. I guess that coin is a keeper by accident.
It might be. I’m suspect of a few of the very minor listings by Wexler. The LD ODV for this year has thickness anyway. With die deterioration always in play, it gets more and more difficult for me to see definitively.
