I would say that it is storage. these colors happen on most proof Jeffersons. The wildest colors came from the 60's Proofs.
Proof nickels tone like this - with a hazy, blue color. Very elegant look, some of them get ugly but yours looks OK.
Okay @Kristine Garrant, give us the low-down. Is it your coin? How did you acquire it? How was it stored? I have a couple of items from the mint that came in a cardboard box, with that fuzzy blue lining, and they too turned blue.
Yes it is my coin It was part of a stash of coins that was given to me by a friend for me to go through. And he gave me like a crown Royal bag like a big green crown Royal bag full of coins. Some of them were incased. A lot was from his pocket change. No it wasn't any blue fuzzy felt thingies lol But I think it's freaking cool
I know isn't so pretty! I get so excited about stuff like that. And DCAM? I'm still learning that's deep cameo? I got to look that up I'm not quite sure exactly what that means
Wow those are gorgeous and I will look for them. I've got like a little stash of coins that are just toned I mean they're nothing special but God are they beautiful Those are beautiful I will search for the '70s as well ..I'm into anything that's got any kind of weird color to it. if it's pretty I've got I keep it I've got a stash of coins that are different tones I mean they're not worth anything and besides you know the pleasure I get from looking at them lol
I think your NICKLE is beautiful. Look at the raised images and the flat background. The flat areas are shiny and reflective. The raised areas have a frosted appearance. A CAM is nice but I think yours is a DCAM as it has a deep cameo appearance.
Beautiful coin. Love the Blue toning. All my coins have been in storage for the past year. Will get a chance to retrieve them in two weeks. Now I have something to look for on all my old proofs to see if any have this style tint.
