Please understand that we’re all equal. You maybe seem to be trying to do to much to fast. You’ll learn here I read your posts and like them. Your inspirational. I didn’t read your whole post. I’m a troll. I was guessing
@Kristine Garrant keep at it. I discovered an unknown mule from 1867, an unknown pattern die from 1868, an undocumented type change from 1907 over the last few years. These things are out there for anyone who is willing to take a deep dive.
Kristine Garrant, posted: "Talking to a person who works at a coin grading company right? He said he has a jar of pennies. some of them are from their father's collection. I said, " oh well you should let me buy them. so I can go through them. You're never going to have the time to go through them." And he goes " oh no, no! I can't do that! there might be something in there!" But yet every time I come to him with something he sits there and tells me, "Oh it's astronomical, oh you can't find anything, oh you're never going to find anything." GUILTY AS CHARGED! #1 I treat this member the exact same way I would treat a girlfriend, my best buddies, and anyone who PM's me with a coin question. I've told Kristine the same thing I tell all CRHs. Have fun and learn about coins; however, the chance of finding anything "special" is very slim to none! That is not the same as never. Let's put it this way - a trillion to one is not never! To be very clear, when the 2024 cents first come out, I may be the first to discover and publish a coin with a mint chip in the date. It is a "special" coin to me and perhaps other CRH but it is REALLY NOTHING SPECIAL or of any unusual value. #2 As for selling anyone several hundred ACTUALLY unsearched cents from the 1960's to 1990's + anything I added after that - NO, NO, HELL NO, and never. I can be one of those CRH "dreamers" too who are looking for a 1969-S DDO in MS.
I would just like to reiterate that most of the above respondees. Are the most likely to have failed in their attempts in the notoriety department. Some of us have their name published with finds, and others stay in the hunt. Keep on the hunt, there are treasures waiting to be found for the ones who are passionate about this hobby.
To me the treasure hunt never ends.. I've found interesting things in rolls and jars and yeah I even thought I had a "discovery" coin... turns out mine was number 23 which did grant me some satisfaction but I'll keep looking and trying same as I'll keep buying my powerball tickets each week cause you never know when ladyluck will strike
I can see how you would want to brush over some of a newbie's nuisance. Just a small example here in this forum under FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS . Its been a while back but newbies ask the same questions over and over again and some members get tired of answering the same questions when all the newbie has to do is read the threads and you will find your answer. If you don't find the answer I would ask and the ones that come across as mouthing your question I will snap right back. You figure out pretty quickly who you can ask on here and its pretty much anyone and if they don't know they will tag someone for you who does know, these guys live this sport they got a ton of experience and us newbies rely on them for sure or at least I do.
The reason this happens is because probably 9/10 times you get an absolute brain-dead with poor grammar and even poorer social skills thinking a dryer quarter gets them to retirement. These same individuals get defensive, rude, and agressive when experts tell them what they don't want to hear. We can certainly blame Youtube in part. Too many videos have click-bait-y titles, advertising jackpots in pocket change. Can this happen? Absolutely. But statistically speaking, you're more likely to win a multi-million dollar lottery jackpot than finding a 1959-DDOs in your McDonalds change. In summary, CT members are sarcastic or dismissive of the dime-a-dozen 'NEW ERROR FUOND !!1!!1!' because the posters are, by and large, absolute idiots.
Very well said Laurie. You know I’m a Lincoln gal. Yes, some rub the wrong way, some appear for the negative but not for the positives. I have been laying low, reading and “toothpicking” from our very good friend suggests.
@Kristine Garrant people will be how they are. I have had my moments here but I have learned to just ignore or comment. A wonderful moderator stated to me, “just keep trying” as well as other members here. It’s like anywhere else, just connect with the ones you relate to. One or two only appear for the “no “ but rarely appear for the “yes”. If that makes any sense. Lol. I often do not but just hang in there. When I post a Lincoln or Zincoln, lol, I may have one member like it and ten not and some state no value. Point is you know why you are on CT. You really do not have to justify why you are here, but you like coins, so you belong here whether you collect, buy, sell, etc, just be you.
And you are correct about some people on YouTube, Etsy and eBay reel people in. That’s in anything I guess but some can be naive to believing something is rare but there are many offers of the same item. The rare is when someone is walking on their property and came upon a bucket of very old coins worth millions.
@Kristine Garrant I hope I am not one of the guilty party's who disparages any of your posts. That said, my recommendation would be to.... Accentuate the positive Eliminate the negative Latch on to the affirmative Don't mess with Mister In Between
By the way that's very cool that you've contributed to the errors and the varieties!! because that's lsomething I want to do! That's like my goal ... I want a discovery lol just plain and simple that's what I want lol
