A friend of mine has a display in his office with a bunch stuff inside it. I spotted this interesting piece. Anyone know anything about it? It’s only about 2 1/2 inches long.

That's pretty neat, the first thing that came to my mind is some kind of mini dough roller.

I'm thinking more like a paint or ink roller??? :nailbiting::nailbiting:

It looks like someone made a miniature or toy lawn roller. I think those things were pretty common in the 40s.

Could be an ink blotter roller. Used with old style fountain pens. When something was signed with a fountain pen you would put blotter paper on top of it and than use the roller to soak up any access ink so it would not smudge. It does look homemade.

    Lol maybe so.

It's just they put two hand grips on the handle for something that's only two and a half inches long made me think miniature :D

I'd only heard of rocker-style ink blotters, but apparently roller blotters were a thing.
Example from a quick web search looks pretty similar.

It’s a ink blotter. Neat that it’s home made with coins.

I'm not sure what country those coins are from, but it's probable that wherever they are from, is where this ink blotter is from. A quick google search and it's from Great Britain.

1941 Farthing, UK with likeness of George VI. Minted until 1956 I believe.

That was obviously a hand-made model as a trophy for a landscaper. LOL

The guy that has this told me he picked it up at an estate sale for a few bucks a few years ago.
