Bad "NGC" slabbed 1879-CC Morgan

    Seems there are more bad "PCGS" holders and coins lately but here is one of the latest in a fake NGC slab:

    The barcode on this one appears to be copied from the original, but it won't scan from the image.

    How did you determine this was a counterfeit holder ?

    What about the coin ?

    Price guide says $85000, I'm thinking that may have raised a red flag.

    I start with the reverse; the counterfeiters have been using 1 common CC rev for the fakes. This example's mint mark does not match any of the listed VAMS.
