Hello All, I searched the forums and I cannot find any info regarding this question. I am probably being neurotic... I just want to make sure I do not damage the few decent notes that I have. In this case specifically, I bought a 1928B Twenty DOLLAR Gold on Demand FDR note and the seller graciously included a UNC 2013 $2 bill as a gift which I appreciated. Both notes shipped and are stored in the same clear currency holder. Can one note affect the condition of another if stored together or in the same single currency holder?? Thank You

p.s. another neurotic question. I washed my hands before taking one note out to look at both (if that makes sense). Is washing your hands prior to handling a note sufficient? Or should I use cotton gloves? Thanks again fellow collectors..

I don't see it doing anything other than making the old note smell newer and the new note smelling older. As for washing your hands, I guess that would depend upon where they have been.

Washing your hands before handling coins or paper is a good idea. We all have skin oils that will do bad things...my mommy told me so.

How are you going to see both sides of that nice note, if you've got a $2 bill stuck in there? Personally I'd put the $2 somewhere else. If it makes you slide the $20 out one more time to see its back, and possibly damage it, it's just not worth it.

Momma was right!!! I always use gloves with coins but honestly, have no idea about currency. I'm sure basic common sense will be be enough.

I knew that was coming from someone and I had done just that right after I posted the question:smug: (Ebay for $4.87/free shipping););).. I should have worded my question different. I basically wanted to find out if it was OK to place two notes in one sleeve without doing any damage? Dave M is 100% correct and why risk it. Thanks for the reply.

I agree and Thank You for the reply. It's funny because I took the $2 note out first and left the $20 in the sleeve exactly for the reasons you mentioned. After checking out the $20 I placed the $2 back simply because I have no sleeves. I ordered some off ebay earlier so that ends that. Your right, why take the risk, especially since sleeves are cheap.

Yikes! Go to your local B&M and buy a pregnancy test right now! Otherwise, you might end up with an $11 note.

I'm not sure if sliding the notes in and out of a sleeve with two notes is a good idea. The idea of the two rubbing against each other and possibly damaging one of them is a bit nerve wracking, especially if its a high dollar note. Besides, as said already, how are you going to see the reverse of the notes?
