There must be another AU58 thread because I swear I've posted mine before. Too lazy to look for it...
Here are some randoms - including a couple Full Head Standing Liberty Quarters, a Belgian Congo elephant, a Queen Isabella quarter and a 1550 1/2 Car coin from the Free City of Besançon which was a self-governing free city surrounded by Franche-Comté. I agree that AU58s are a really sweet spot for collecting - MS looks at AU prices when you're fortunate. About Besançon - (from Wikipedia) After losing its status as a free imperial city within the Holy Roman Empire in 1654, the City of refused to recognise the sovereignty of a new protector, whether the king of France or Spain, until Louis XIV dissolved the municipal government in 1676. The government comprised only a tiny area around the City of Besançon in the Franche-Comté, which meant that it had limited independence although it had considerable internal autonomy and still tried to claim neutrality.
