I've had this La Jolla Beach Tennis Club Token for years and I knew it was rare but it may even be my rarest! Here's an opportunity to show off a bit, post your oldest or rarest Token, or just keep it simple and post your favorite! http://tokencatalog.com/token_recor...0495&td_image_id=605453&attribution_id=246057
It's impossible to know how rare this is but I have only ever seen 2 for sale, and I purchased both of them. Germany-Baden Shop Token ca. 1918
Unique, though not a unique type. The only Champion medal I've seen in silver. I've seen eight of these WW2 deployment medals in bronze. They are crown/Silver Eagle sized. This belonged to my grandfather and namesake, Dr. Logan T. Robertson (1916-1987). Granddaddy's medal. Granddaddy as he looked as an officer in WW2. Given the amount of wear on the medal above, there's a chance it could have been in his pocket when this photo was taken. Granddaddy as I remember him.
Amazing Tokens, love them all! That said the German elephant is way cool in any language! For Token and Medal lovers far and near in case you don't know it, some of us have Albums here on CoinTalk, so if you get a minute, check em' out in the Gallery!
Not my rarest (R4 4-6 known) but definitely my favorite. I like soda fountain, ice cream parlor and confectionery tokens. This has two out of three plus I bought it from token Grandmaster David Schenkman.
Still trying to figure out which of mine stuff is the rarest. Lowest mintage vs. lowest surviving count? The second is much more difficult to determine. The first may not have any records . . . . . Z
I've been told that this 1801 Peace, Commerce & Plenty token by Davies (instead of those by Kettle) is fairly rare. Listed in Fauver as (Peace 1801-20). I don't have any confirmation of this one's rarity. Anyone have better information? Z http://tokencatalog.com/token_record_forms.php?action=DisplayTokenRecord&td_id=634000
Agreed- that's a very cool token. Usually I'm less interested in text-only/non-pictorial tokens and medals, but that one's an exception.
