probably somebody messing around

Had to post this even though I'm darn near certain it's PMD but it caught my eye when I found it in my till at work. It has the exact diameter of a nickel, thinner than a dime, weight is 2 grams one side looks like it had raised rim but obvious "filing or polishing" the other side is some weird codex pattern for lack of a better word. What a strange "coin" lol. Side note yes I should use gloves but eh it's already circulated and yes I already know I need lotion my hands are dry

Could be one of those electrical box punch-outs that people try to pass for coins,

 

Thought that, but those are usually confused for quarter blank planchets.

My guess is a golf ball marker.
