The curvy piece of wood in my selfie is a Mexican hardwood called Hormigo, which sounds like the masculine form in Spanish of hormiga, the word for ant. My assumption is that it's name came from the numerous tiny holes created by whatever type of insect it attracts. Is there an entomologist out there who can chime in?

This has been one of the most enjoyable threads I've read and participated in in a long time, mainly due to the civility, humor, creativity and respect shown by those who contributed. And, it was just plain fun!

Perhaps a little late, I hesitated to post myself since I mostly watch you guys talking, but hey, I´ll show you a picture of me, drinking "mate" (a sort of national drink for argentines, paraguayans, uruguayans and southern brazilians) at the colosseum.



It was hard for me to pick one, I chose the only gold I have, I was between this one or an F+ Claudius I which has a special place in my collection, but that´s another story.

@KIWITI I know it can all look alike, but that sure looks like the same spot my wife and I stood the last time we were in Rome.

 

Might be, why not? However I must admit, I don´t recall exactly where this one was taken. My wife and I were wondering arround, trying to absorb everything (at least me, she´s not into ancient cultures but is very supportive) when it came to me that it would be fun to take a picture like that: drinking "mate".

It kind of sums up who I am, an argentinian with italian ancestors.
