    image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg I'm not sure. My guess is a form of MD.

    Not sure myself.
I was looking for a post from you earlier today. Was gonna piggyback & post VDB I'd picked up yesterday. Didn't want to start a new thread but ended up doing it anyway.

The only problem with piggybacking is that you get less responses. Otherwise I do not mind.

Interest was in showing rather than opinion. Yes, guess would be polite to ask first.

That's ok. Feel free! I have not posted in a few days. I really don't mind!

I'm thinking closer to die crack than anything else. Of course, I'm also the guy who doesn't believe it's DD if you can't see it with a 10x loupe so you don't have to take my word for it. :)

Lol, I understand. I just don't know because it runs right up the center. There is nothing else affected either. Usually DD runs in other numbers or letters.

I'm thinking not die crack as most cracks are on the striking surface of the die where most of the pressures are applied to the planchet metal to push it into the incuse areas of the die (and they take the shape of a crack - but raised from the surface of the coin). Plus this doesn't have the characteristics of a crack (die crack that is!)

If everything on the obverse is doubled, it is a doubled die obverse, if not, it is machine doubling. Appears to be a machine doubling.

I don't see any other doubling.

Ok. Seems like a classic case of mechanical doubling. The die was loose when it was struck so it twisted and produced a shelf like image of the certain places of the coin.

It's never a good idea to "piggyback" someone else's post.

Not true - Maybe if you are only considering the Major DD's like 55, 69, 72, but what about the 1995 DD, very subtle and NOT every letter on obverse is DD! Plus all the minor varieties of all said coins. AND MM's aren't doubled on pre - 1989 coins as they were hand punched into the finished die. ( may have the date wrong so fill me in if I do)

Go under my profile and look for the post. Maybe you can find it there.

I ended up making a new thread this morning, which was probably the right thing to do anyway. It didn't go very far but just showing rather than looking for opinions. I don't want to say I'm lazy, I'm not just not that tech savvy & didn't think to do that. Thanks though.
