Hi guys. I'm looking to buy the coin below. It is very similar to one sold by Nomos Auctions number 3 lot 123 in 2011. Same dies but different coin. I am a bit concerned that it could be a cast copy. It weighs 2.61gm. What do you think?
Ten years ago only 3-4 examples known, so very very rare. It surprising if cast for such uncommon coin.
I'm sorry, I am not qualified to say, but I'll take this as an excuse to shamelessly post my own little unrelated hekte, if you'll forgive the non-sequitur.
No problem. For this and similar types see here: https://www.glebecoins.org/electrum/Early_Electrum/Northern_Ionian_Types/northern_ionian_types.html Ross G.
That's an awesome 1/6 Stater @Lee Gilmore. Congrats for such a beauty. I would suggest that you edit the title of your post and delete the word "Fake" or else add a question mark, because for a reader it seems to say that it is a fake, and thus conveys a wrong message. Just my humble opinion
Hi everyone. I purchased this coin which turned up with a sales ticket from Roma Numismatics. Wish they had told me it had been sold by them a few years ago because that would have eased my fears.
