I know there was a thread about storing and displaying coins (ancient, I think). This has been running in Craigslist for several months...anyone want me to buy it for them? http://ventura.craigslist.org/bfd/5652436885.html
Craigslist is very shady nowadays; if you do business take someone with you and carry a gun. I am serious. The world is full of people who mean you harm. It is sad but true. They want what you have earned and taken time to acquire. Sorry for the rant; just know someone that got taken advantage of via Craigslist. She barely came out of it alive. Thanks for sharing.
I always bring my dad with me and meet at the local starbucks during high business hours. If dad's not avail, I bring my toughest-looking friend, a knife, and a high awareness Some places have a designated safe space: http://www.safetradestations.com/safetrade-station-news If you can find one, make sure to meet there. If seller refuses to do so, then you know they're going to do something bad.
If one can and/or is willing to wade through and deal with the nonsense/BS, craigslist can be a perfectly fine venue. Common sense and reasonable care go a long way towards positive outcomes; as always, one must see what is actually there instead of seeing only what they want to. With most everything in life, the potential for increased reward goes hand-in-hand with increased risk, and little available on Craigslist isn't also available elsewhere, so no one is forced to shoulder it. With that said, and this is especially true for coins/metals, craigslist today is a freshly-chummed shark tank and therefore not the place for the uninitiated to get their feet wet or the faint of heart to test their floaters, and this is particularly true for wannabe "dealers".
Sounds like when my wife and I were dating. We would pull into the start of a driveway however. Rural roads were always good. No police cars and lots of privacy. :>)
