Hello, I inherited 15 Indian Head Buffalo Nickels and wanted to see if anyone here thinks any are worth sending in for grading. I'm not familiar enough myself and another set of eyes would be good. Most do not have visible dates. Thanks!
Hello Steve.. I see 15 Normal Circulated Buffalos. Just store them away safe and really no need to slab.
Yeah they are, I was hoping for a 3 leg! My buddy is part indian so I wanted to check before I give him a couple
Interesting.. why would you want to do that? Is it that he collects coins also or because he's part Native American?.. It's just a coin Minted by the US not a Native American artifact
Just for fun knowing they are worth $1. I didn't really have any interest in coins until I got some for free. I won't give him something like this though....still trying to gather info on it.
Just regular well circulated Buffs. But nice to have. Might as well get some "Nic-a-Date" for the dateless coins - not any real value anyhow but would be interesting to see what the dates are. http://www.wizardcoinsupply.com/product/nic-a-date.html
Markus is correct, might as well use Nic-a-date to find out what you have for those that are dateless. Nic-a-date can stain though and I usually follow quickly afterwards with a good soak in vinegar to help remove the staining. Does not always work but usually helps to some degree.
I usually use white vinegar and salt mixture. Soak it in there for a bit and the date will show up. That way you at least get a uniform look to the coin vs the nick-a-date. Either way, the coin is damaged.
