1989 D cent mint mark in wrong place

    Is this within tolerance of the mint where the mint mark is being that they were hand punched back then? I'm going to guess that it is, I thought I would just ask. image.jpeg image.jpeg

    Please show a side by side comparison with another 1989 D ...

    I believe by that year the Mintmark was part of the design and not punched in any longer.. But its darn to early in the morning for me to look up that info :yawn:

    I will find another one and post it. The mint mark is supposed to be between the first 9 and 8 though.

    Was the MM punched in or part of the hub design? In 1989?

    Basically with the hand punched mintmarks on cents, if it is below the date and right of the bust, and it isn't touching the date, bust, or rim, it is within tolerance.
