    Can anyone tell me if this real or fake, I've done some research and looked at pictures online..looks real....help

    Extremely unlikely that it is real, could be one of the early restrikes. Can you post pictures?

    Unfortunately, no it is not real. It is a cast replica.

    Jennifer, you should have added the photos to this thread. Now, you have two threads with the same title. You need to notify the Mods to combine these two threads. You can do this by clicking on "Report" at the bottom of my post, and ask the Mods to combine them.

    You know, a good deal on Confederate coinage might be the same year half dollar (1861-o), New Orleans mint. It is interesting to read the mintage figures for the production of half dollars by three different governments that produced the 1861-o. Even coins of this date/mint that are not conclusively Confederate, are likely produced by the rebels. Please correct me the more learned.

    I forget the exacts, but you're right... it is believed the majority were minted by either the State of Louisiana or the Confederate government (or as you call them, "rebels").
