Well, the poster is actually a woman... I think it's awesome her daughter is into coin collecting and she's encouraging it!
That quarter looks like it has been damaged in a washing machine and/or vigorously cleaned. IMO, it is only worth face value. Keep in mind that there were no uncirculated mint sets issued in 1982 and 1983, so finding gem brilliant uncirculated examples of coins from these years is challenging. TC
I'd like to clarify on my comment "Who is positive and who is not". This was not pointed at anyone and especially not Chris, who brings a lifetime of experience to this forum. But I do think we all need to remember that we all started at the bottom rung of the ladder to get to where we are now. Perhaps just (bit) more clarification on why we say what we do might help. I can imagine the excitement when a newbie finds something they think might be special, been there, done that. And I did not study this forum intensively before I jumped in, so I made mistakes here and there. One thing old age has given me is more patience. And to all newbies, please also, be patient with us, we all can have a bad day now and then. Name calling and innuendos do not add to the forum, they detract.
Why the devil does everyone feel they have to act so politically correct? As Mr. Truman once said, 'If you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen'. And the danged coin is worth a 'quarter'.......25 cents.......two bits........ If it was in a mint set I might think otherwise, but they didn't do mint sets that year (had to travel to the mint gift shop to get an example)
Why are some avatars missing, this is messing me all up. To the OP, one you get to know the members here, you will really enjoy yourself here and with the hobby. It just takes a little while to know what is an error and what is not. Perhaps looking into the minting process will help you and your daughter distinguish it when you do find a rarity. Oh and I voted for 1982.
Don't think that anybody does, as this "politically correct" label is only used in a negative sense, but maybe PC also refers to Politeness & Courtesy. Nothing wrong with that methinks ... @Kirkuleez - Hmm, the avatars are all there. On my screen, and now, that is. Christian
