In all honesty, I am surprised that no one has posted a better example than yours especially considering the complete lack of ROMA in exergue. I'm less than 100% sure that the toning is 100% natural but that is a lot less of a problem to me than roughness and missing details. I am not at all surprised that I don't have a nicer one; mine is fourree coming to me with the group I got from the Grant Edwards collection in 1990.

 

I see JA also has you under that magic spell of his that he uses to get us to bid on his coins. Honestly, most of my collection is a good sample size of JA's inventory over the last 7 months.

 

LOL, THEREFORE, if you have ROMA in ex, you have a FOUREE!

 

mmm... he has only a small portion of me under the spell... he doesn't foray into some of my funkier "schtuff"...

 

Frankly @dougsmit I can live without the ROMA. You can just see a hint of it at the bottom, but the flan is just too small.

It would have been nice if it was there, but everything else made up for it, including the beautiful portrait of Roma, and the wonderful style on the horses in the reverse. Sometimes what's there is more important than what's not there. What good is ROMA if you have a partial bust on the obverse, or a heavily worn portrait, or a partial bigga in the reverse, etc. I can live with the compromise. After all, just about all ancient coins have one compromise or another you have to live with.

 

So that's what Sallent looks like? Interesting to say the least!

That's a good idea VK! Why don't we have a thread where we post a coin an a picture of us? It would be nice to know what the people we interact with on a daily basis look like.

 

I also remember a thread on another forum where one would post a photo and then post a ruler that they looked like. But I like your idea better since I've yet to find an ancient ruler that I look like, and am sure others would struggle with this as well.

 

Yeah, that's more or less what I look like. I hope I didnt disappoint anyone who was expecting Brad Pitt.
