I'm looking for a photo of Heritage 187, lot 5450 - a bust half struck over a Brazilian 80 réis. They identify it as Pollock 51. The lot is in the Heritage online archive, but without a photo.

    Thanks!

Very interesting - would like to see a photo of this overstruck coin as well.

Where are these bust half nuts when you need 'em? :D

They got busted for halving nuts... and they became half nuts being busted...

Unfortunately this item is from so long ago that we no longer have the image anywhere in digital format. In theory these images aren't supposed to go away, but it took a couple of years for the word to get around.

Thanks for checking! I am assuming this would be illustrated in the physical catalog, but if not Pollock might illustrate it.

Wayback machine generally does not archive photos. I've tried this for other auctions before.

That is a refreshingly honest and ground-engaged statement. Good on ya. :)

Either way, the infant state of digital imaging in 1998 would mean the images, if available, likely wouldn't suffice for any scholarly purposes - you wouldn't see much for detail. State of the art in 1998 was 640x480....
