What's your opinion on this 1909 s? Potential grade

    It looks to be an XF coin to me.

    However, the 1909 cents are easily found in higher grades as they were first-year issues and were hoarded extensively.

    I would not recommend submitting it, both for the reason above, and because it has some gunk on the left side of the reverse.

    Looks EF-45, the wheat grains still look sharp. However, the surfaces are questionable. That's an odd toning pattern. It may have been cleaned long ago and it retoned oddly. There are also some brown patches which are likely remnants of the original patina. I think a TPG would bag it.

    Nice find. I wouldn’t have it graded due to cost recovery. It’s in F/XF and found in higher grades quite easily.

    Thank you! And yah it blew my socks off I had to look at it about 30 times to make sure it wasn't a 2009

    I would agree, submitting a coin for grading is suppose to enhance value
    if not doesn’t make much sense to
    do it.
