I'd ask for better picture actual color? I'm assuming it's not gold colored. Looks like a high grade and wonder why it wouldn't be graded.
I don’t think it has been cleaned but I’m limited at looking at the coin. The asking price is the top price in the Red Book. The mintage is over 6 million and I don’t consider that rare for that series. Wait for others but I think you can do better.
It appears not to be cleaned (shows luster) but definitely not full head. The choice of lighting probably gives the coin the yellow look.
All silver this old without any toning at all has been "cleaned". Some parallel lines in the left, obverse field...can't tell if cleaning scratches or die polish lines, I think the former.
So why not fix the white balance and show a More real life picture WITH almost 3000 feedbacks? Sounds sketchy? I would ask for a few better pictures if interested.
Idhair, What is known about this seller? He has quite a few nice coins & consistently lists raw 'key' wheat , Indian cents & attractive SLQ's. THANKS to all the thoughtful members who offered their 2¢, and have decided to give this coin a pass. J.T.
Ask yourself this, if a seller “consistently lists raw ‘key’ wheat, Indian Cents & attractive SLQ’s”, where does he get that many coins from and why aren’t they graded?
The white balance could be off in the pictures. You can adjust that with programs like Adobe Photoshop Elements. The hot lights often give the raw photos a yellow look. No necessarily. Sometimes old coins just don't tone, especially 20th century pieces that have bee stored in rolls for a while, away from the air. This piece has some age spots, but it's never been dipped.
When you see coins like this offered raw, your guard should go up because a logical question is, "Why hasn't this coin been certified?" Quite often, if there is a reason, it won't be one that will be in your favor.
I don't recall but would guess that this eBay seller has previously been discussed (& maybe cussed) in this discussion group. What remains puzzling to me is his excellent feedback profile. If something had been proven 'janky', shouldn't there be a few negs shown? A quandary indeed. J.T.
I don’t know but I’ve heard that the seller can remove any comments that they disagree with. Can anyone comment on this?
