In my Father's collection, I found 23 2017P Ellis Island quarters that have a line that runs from the building to the shoulder of the man. It doesn't seemed to be raised or cut into the surface. There are 23 quarters with the same markings. I remember when he got the $25 bag from the mint back then. He thought it was a die gouge or a mark on the reverse die. Help.
Feeder finger or a very bad die gouge. I'm at feeder finger. I found several of these and did not pursue them, just stored them.
Or just choose a title which gives members even the slightest idea what the thread is about. Whatever works for you, really.
Good morning Roseland. I agree with Desertgem and Tommy. the mark is from a bent feeder finger, The feeder finger bent and damaged the die surface.
Thanks for the information. My Dad showed me the collection and told me a lot. He also said that this form was great place to find answers from the experts here. Didn't mean to "bait" for answers. This is still new to me. I am just now going through his 480+ Morgan Silver Dollars. He had done extensive work on his inventory, documentation, and reports of his collection. It is just a lot to take in.
