    Hi guys!

I picked up a 1928-S Merc for my Whitman folder today and remembered there is are Large/Small or Large/Normal S varieties. I have a hard time with distinguishing varieties based on the sizing of design elements, probably because I have few other examples to compare it to.

Does anyone know if this is the large or normal S? I think it looks like the Large S variety.

Image courtesy of PCGS Coinfacts: yours appears to be the large S based on the serif.

With so much wear, it hard to tell.

I believe it is a small S due to the location in relation to the last leaf but I don’t collect varieties.

The wear also makes it look larger than it was when it was minted.

I stand by my assertion that it is the large S... Both due to the bottom serif and the proximity to the leaves.

    Just my thought. :)
