In Remembrance Token

A very nice Civil War Token. The obverse features Lady Liberty with a cap and a date of 1863 at 6 o’clock. She is surrounded by 13 stars representing the 13 original colonies.

The reverse has “IN REMEMBRANCE” From 9 to 3 o’clock. In the center is “OF THE WAR OF” with “1861 ‘62 ‘63” centered over the 6 o’clock position running from 8 to 4 o’clock. You gotta love any of the Civil War Tokens.

I believe that is one of the better ones...as far as rarer ...ones. I wish I had a reference for them...something to add to the list of needs...

I believe you are correct, a low rating for being rare but I can’t recall.

 

I wouldn’t think so. Just depends on where you look.

 

You need to search aaround old building sites...know stores ,taverns.etc...in an open field I say lesser chance to find a dropped token...

The patriotic CWT variety numbers are Fuld number 24/246a. It is rated as an R-2, which is fairly common.
