Systematic thefts within the USPS uncovered and prosecuted, thanks to NCIC, NGC, and one postal investigator.
Hoo-ray. More scum off the street. Maybe I can put them on my case of business checks being stolen out of the mail.
I was happy to see that if a coin is reported as stolen to NGC that they tag the cert. no. And anyone who tries to verify the cert. no. gets the stolen coin message. Of course, smarter crooks will crack coins out and sell them raw or submit them for a new slab. And if they are are really smart, they'll submit the coins to a different TPG than the one that did the original slab. It would be a good thing if there was a shared database of high resolution images of certified coins. That way any coin that comes into a TPG can be checked by image comparison software. If it's on the stolen list, it could be immediately flagged. This method could also be used to correct the population explosion in the pop/census reports due to crack-outs and crossovers. Cal
People like this pair are absolutely scary. Happy to see that one is dead — at least the taxpayers won’t have to pay to keep him up.
