Ran up to the store earlier and noticed a dime on the asphalt parking lot. Didn't pay much attention to even pick it up from the puddle of water, but I saw the toning and figured it was a silver. Sure enough it was!
The homeless in my town keep the change pretty much cleaned up. Once in a great while I find a penny. But there's aluminum cans laying all over. They beg for change and drink their beer and throw the cans down. I'm thinking about taking a walk someday and seeing how much aluminum i can find.
The toning is much nicer than the pictures show! Always makes me wonder if someone busted into grandpa's old change jar when I find these little treasures!
I knew a retired guy that had a route, a couple times a week he would make the rounds to businesses and locations that saved cans for him. Every other month he would buy a tenth ounce of gold and coins.
Better off swinging that shovel, gives you a five foot reach. I ccw. Still with headphones on you still have to keep your head on swivel and eyes open to your surroundings.
Silver dimes randomly laying around in parking lots, and a thread earlier today about an ancient Roman coin found while hiking in Indiana. Sounds like the beginning of a sci-fi movie...... something strange is going on here!
Around here in Maine it isn't bad. We do bottle redemption here. it gives incentive to recycle for the financially-fortunate, and gives the homeless and poor a means of gaining some extra cash. I wish more states did this.
Q: How do you get people to care about keeping their surroundings clean? A: You don't. You take the fact that they already care about MONEY, and arrange things so that being a slob is more expensive than being tidy.
