Well anyway, just some of the past two months purchases. Switched to Canadian silver alot, I really think gold is probably the direction I am going to invest in the near future, as I worry the world economy would fail if China and USA go to war and our banks may not survive, I fear electronic funds might be worthless. And my silver bag is getting heavy. IMG_20230327_214431014.jpg IMG_20230327_214327698_HDR.jpg IMG_20230327_212028954.jpg

I typed out my point on the phone, lost everything i typed because I pressed back button, anyhow, because thats where the pictures are, I havent linked my phone to pc yet, but I was going to talk about my clean time, as it relates to coin collection, I trade addictions, but coin collections never put me in jail. so progress is a good thing. and I have 2 years clean this time off drugs and alcohol by gods grace. Ive sold more collections for pennies, and forgot more about coins, im not always rite, and i have nothing to gain in that respect. but ive forgot more than i know now. I learn in the conversations.

    Keep it up @Autoturf !

Addiction is hard to beat, and I've heard that the desire never leaves, making every day a new challenge.

Coins / bullion are a good way to keep that money from going elsewhere.

Plus, your silver stack is an investment in your future!

For sure, it was even scarrier to know you was about to run out because you was "cutting back", and the dealer (gas station) was closed till 6 am.

If China and the US goes to war.....money of any form will be the last of your concerns! As that my friend is the end ! Besides all your money will glow as you and I Will.
We are just minuites away on the clock...and in my life time I've seen the clock just about strike 12.
Cuban missile crisis. Of course we had duck and cover going for us...;) not!

Your assumption is it would be a nuclear war. I dont think so, but valid points for sure. Id likly use it as an excuse to drink again, if were going to die either way.

Well for once in my lifetime I hope your right and Im wrong......another memory I had as a kid was my father taking 3 day trips...he worked for the Fed. And he didn't travel much or far....but he did go to an undisclosed location in the mountains of Va. Or Wv to inspect money stored in case of a nuclear war.
As my father was a fedreal reserve agent his last position of a 47 year career with the fed.
Even as a pre teen I questioned the thought process of having semi clean money when everyone is dead. I say semi as radiation has many half lives...

We had fire drills as well CD drills...the nuns would lower the heavy canvas black out curtains and we get under the desk.

I completely understood what was going on.... the cute little Irish girl next to me Mary whom I had a major crush on....didn't know...that sure enough if the drill wasn't a drill was definitely going to be kissed ;)

That was my plan....well never got kissed...but im here to talk about it....lol

Thier weapons would certainly be targeted in any case, I think its disgusting to have a desire to kill other people. war is ugly and we have not matured much since the beginning of man. history repeats. I hope were both wrong. and mabie back then money was worth more. now money is more like credits on a video game.

I remember the drills when I was in first grade. One day we heard the roar of a low flying jet pass over the school during the drill. Later on I learned that a jet on a training run from Glenview Naval Airstation crashed a few files to the northwest of the school. Fortunately the pilot ejected safely and nobody was hurt in the crash. Something I've never forgotten!

Yeah even at that young age we knew the threat...and understood the situation at hand.
It wasn't until many years later that I found out... that yeah living 36 miles from DC was ground zero....
But more so living on the Chesapeake bay...as a device hitting mid bay is a better target as the water ,steam and cloud would cover most of the Eastern sea board.
    Killing everything!

I want no child be they friend or foe to have to live with that fear...
As a child I always valued family...my aunts and uncle's cousins...kids I played with growing up.
Now I have little family left...never had any children....and must say at times I feel at a loss for not having kids... but at this point in our life...we would of had kids...and grand kids....and I be as nervous as a prostitute in church....as to their future.... and I am an optimist one has to be...

We had two niki bases one off rt 50 on the north side about 1.5 miles from the bay bridge.
The other off Ft Smallwood rd.. ..about 10 miles north of the base near Annapolis.
As teens we craw into the launch pads under the dimond steel doors...great place to hunt snakes.
Both sites were to handel incoming...war heads.....

My dad served at a missile base with the Army on Chicago's lakefront in the 60s. I assume they were Nikes but I'm not sure. He took me there to show me where stuff was and now it's a regular beach. It's hard to believe there were all these missiles around back then in the middle of the city and suburbs.

My dad also served as motor pool sgt at Fischbach germany, where I worked summer hire as a kid, they had nuclear weapons on base, I mowed grass between the security fences. was a fairly small weapons depot.

With coins you have another reason to once again use your scale and those little bags for something that won't go away and won't get you in trouble.

My father was in the Army and we moved almost every year I was in school. We lived in Europe twice. Now I live in the middle of about 8 military bases in North Carolina. I looked at the map and it made me feel like Custer.
Also, you guys talk about addiction. There is never an easy addiction and you never are free of it. Mine got me in more trouble than I can think of. When I was 39, I was jogging down a narrow strip beside the road. I got hit by a truck that knocked me down a 30 foot embankment. I had to be brought up to the road in a "basket". I went to the hospital. I finally woke up while they were prepping me for surgery. I had destroyed most lower back (L? - S1). After that, I had 4 more surgeries. In the meantime, the gave me enough Percocet to kill me. Eventually, I became an addict. Then they made me go cold turkey. I never got over it. I started doctor shopping and finally, a doctor caught on and I was arrested. I spent a few months in jail. I lost my job, my wife and my children, all because a truck tried to kill me.
That was 20 years ago. since then, I was referred to a psychiatrist that specialized in drug addiction and pain management. I went to a addiction program that didn't help. I still hurt like hell. I was finally referred to M.D. that put all my medical records together to find out what was going on. He diagnosed me as having "Failed Back Syndrome". I was told that my back cannot be fixed and the only thing that could be done is to be on a Pain Management with Narcotics to minimize the level of pain I had. Pain is identified by a numeric system 1-10. I have never had a number less that 6. I have to see my doctor every other month to see if there was any change. Blood was taken every other month to make sure I am taking my medicine.
I retired from work with 30 years of service for the State Controllers Office as the CPA monitoring mis-use of state funds. My criminal record was expunged, Got married again and started on a new hobby.
Thanks to all of you, I have learned a great deal, both directly and/or telling my which books would help me. Thank you.
