I know very little about women, and the more I know, the less I know, but one thing I DO know is what they say, and what they mean, are often two different things.
If I were you, I would play it safe and as has been suggested, get a second gift, quickly. (The alternative is too horrible to ponder.)

I would consider it, but now I'm afraid the choice of second gift would be a thousand-dollar vacuum .

Get the Toaster, but GET another present from the Heart (need NOT be expensive, just thoughtful...). Worth it Dude... big time. :)

Carausius Brother, can you spare a sestertius?

Happy anniversary! My family is getting bored with my constant requests for ancient coin related gifts for birthdays, anniversaries, Christmas and even Father's Day. Below is my Father's Day present - my Hess, Tolstoy Colllection (1912) auction catalogue, rebound in green French goat, double gilt fillets, red morrocco spine label, marbled endsheets. The catalogue was mine, the binding was the gift.

What remains of the bridge...the wood is gone but the ends on both shores remain, as well as most pillars are still underwater. Happy anniversary!

Thank you, and thanks for sharing the picture!

For those interested, check out this link for CNG's take on the bridge on this coin being the one built by Trajan across the Danube River during the Dacian Wars:

@ zumbly: Thanks much for the historical context. Interesting stuff.

By the way, I think a really good toaster is absolutely indispensable and worth it's weight in gold. Ours has a long wide slot big enough to toast a whole bagel sliced in half. Can't live without it!

Z-bro, congrats on scoring that fine coin & wife combo (they're both keepers)

    Cheers

My wife bakes a lot of large, rustic loaves, so a toaster with wide slots was exactly what she wanted :).

Thanks, my friend :). No upgrading this one (the wife, that is).
