I have a bronze medal that I would like to display with some coins that are in coin capsules. The coins are silver and I prefer the look of the black rings that come with the capsules. The medal is approximately 75 mm in diameter and since no search has revealed a coin capsule this size, I brainstormed a petri dish.
Been a while since I was in a lab, but I remember there being all kinds of sizes of these things. I googled them and there is way more people selling these things than can possibly be buying them.
Anyway most are listed in mililiters and don't give a diameter or depth. Some do list a diameter but aren't big enough for what I would prefer. I have the material to make a ring, so if I could find a dish say 90 to a hundred mm in diameter it would be great. Any ideas?

From my research, some are, others are glass or polystyrene.

For a single item, I'd turn first to eBay. Lab suppliers usually only want to sell them by the case.

Decades ago when I was looking for such things, they always listed depth and diameter.

Okay, I just checked on eBay, and it looks like they mostly sell in multiples there as well. But they're cheap, like $6 shipped (from China!) for a 10-pack:

10pcs 90*15mm Bacterial Sterile Plastic Plate Petri Dishes

...and nearly every listing gives dimensions.

    I miss lab work. :(

hhhhmmmmmm.... Maybe as a display, you could prop the coin up on a board of some sort, and have a magnifier over the coin?

You know, I searched eBay for one and got no results. As all my other capsules are Guardhouse, I searched their website too, no luck. Thinking there wasn't a big enough market for them was the reason, I have waisted lots of time searching the net before, that could have been better spent. I learned today to ask here first.
It will take a little while to finish this one. I will post photos when done though, I've never took photos of my others. This one may turn out to be a mini series, as I've taken lots of them through the entire process.

Next time I'm at the lab, I'll check the plastic petri dishes.
