AMEN TO THAT! And that goes for comments in post#239 concerning a particular poster and not the thread. This is about SEGS!
I never submitted it under the regrade tier but a separate guarantee submission tier - big difference. If there is no guarantee then there was nothing to be done but returning the coin. Larry knew or should have known prior to cracking the slab.
Interesting as the current form doesn't have a guarantee submission tier. It only has S5, re-encapsulation So what box did you check? How did you do the submission?
This may be a silly question, [he says after reading #251 posts over 13 pages, and has a headache]: but... The OP and [someone else, too tired to re-read who it was] sent in a coin for re-grading. So, if I regrade a coin, and think, hey, this was graded by me 10 years ago, I was wrong and now it is a lower grade, please regrade this for me. So, it come back lower. Why send the coins in for re-grading, unless you really think they will upgrade? I don't understand why anyone would resubmit a coin for reconsideration and then wonder about the new grade. Sorry, confused in NY.
The major reason being you know it's overgraded and want the compensation money for the difference in grade.
Probably for the strange, probably Masochistic reason I'm going to receive 3 relatively expensive Gold coins that were removed from one of the two top tier slabs, and sent to the other for grading. Two of the coins are reportedly being returned in the competitive slab with the same grade. The third which was a tough date MS63 graded Double Eagle, being returned as "cleaned". How? To Whom can I complain? It probably would have been less painful, and more enjoyable (less expensive?) to have a young lady whip me in her parlor. I will be sending three more, because I believe there's many of us idiots in this world having nonsensical fantasies. I personally have appreciated the services of SEGS. I probably have one of the largest scarce date/grade Double Eagle collections in their holders. It's appreciated that they are a competitive grading firm who will place a grade on their slab, along with a notation of possible societal exception (e.g. MS65 - Reverse scratch - Cleaned). When properly selected and submitted, their coins can realize comparable grades from the "top tier" TPG. JMHO
Gentlemen - anymore of the personal nonsense and the thread will be locked, the offenders will be told to go sit in the corner for a while, and life will go on. Do I make myself clear ?
OK if you sent it in specifically under a grade guarantee submission and they no longer have the grade guarantee, then you are right they had no business cracking it out because they could not provide the requested service.
So, after a stern warning, and on post #257, my brief recap: 1. SEGS has a warranty on their work on their webpage. 2. Apparently SEGS was owned by a corporation, but the corp went bankrupt and its assets were bought by a SEGS LLC. 3. Some people want SEGS LLC to honor the grading of SEGS corp. 4. Some posters, like myself, have an ego and an issue of boundaries on an internet chat site. To me, SEGS should have been more forthright with the ownership change and exactly what they are warrantying. Having said that, I believe the LLC is not obligated to honor a defunct corporations debts. As for the issue of posters, (like I said, myself included), we just need to remember its a website and leave personal issues out of it. I respect the posters who were going back and forth for their coin opinions. I do it as well, @Insider and I were going back and forth a month ago on something, then he posted some things I liked and I did as well. We all go through times of others getting on our nerves. My suggestion is to just stay away from certain posters or topics for a week or so and cool down, (advice I have tried to take as well). Just my opinion.
Agreed, the problem is the new company, SEGS LLC, is still using slabs that are identical to the SEGS company. And therefor since it is not possible to tell when a SEGS coin was slabbed, it allows SEGS LLC to deny their guarantee even on coins recently slabbed. All they have to do is say it was slabbed before 2007. If you weren't the one who had it slabbed you have to take their word for it, and they can walk on almost all their guarantees.
Color me clueless, disappointed, and curious. This post would have been much more informative if you would have provided details such as: I sent a 1924 Saint in an ANACS 63 holder that was returned as cleaned from PCGS. They can't sue you for truthful facts.
