I too go nuts with empty holes in an album or a folder. The hole is there to be filled with the correct coin. A fake would drive me more nutty as I know why it’s there. Randy, there is only one solution to your problem. You must exercise a lot of patience. Lol Either that or stop using albums. But that creates another problem. Be patient, have a list of what you need and wait for that coin to come along. It works for me and I’m sure it will for you.
Here ya go Randy All on host IHC coins Works for me until I hit power ball....or someone leaving me a pot full of money
You can take pictures of your slabbed coins and print them out to put in the type set holes. Just a thought
Manybe on micro film these are 3 CN not crowns.....and less we forget....we are talking about Randy Abercrombie right? 1 nail pop in the living room wall....and it's Honey can you order a 5 gallon bucket of Spackel from Amazon? Stat....
I think @Cherd 's suggestion is worthy of the "Best Answer," but that button is no longer available. It's a great idea to have a photo to place in the hole, so an example of the art work for the coin is available. Putting some Chinese knock-off in might lead your heirs to thinking they have some expensive coins.
my, my!! Fill the hole with drops of acrylic paint of your favorite color , let it get stiff and then stamp or carve your initials and go to the next one. Are all of you this psychotic ?? Meant in a good way of course, I am too old to talk about others. Jim
You can buy "proxy" coins on fleaBay, they are plastic disks of the appropriate size and say something like "slabbed coin" on them.
Randy, the easiest fix for all of this has yet to be explored. Forget the hole. Address the anxiety. Xanax, and your problem is fixed. Whallah! You're welcome
I wouldn't knowingly buy any fakes nor would I crack any slabs. If you have duplicates of the series just put one in the hole with the reverse showing. It's a genuine coin and should help you sleep at night.
That’s all? I need about 20 and it’s driving me crazy. Just break down and buy them. Do it correctly and forget the ideas we all have to fill those holes. I can think of nothing better than the real coin in those slots.
I have not used coin albums in the conventional sense for U.S. coins for many decades. I use Eagle brand albums for my political items collection because I can custom tailor it to what I want to do. Here is a sample. As for the "holes," I can accept that fact that I have the item in a slab. It's way too expensive to crack it out, and the slab provides better protection anyway.
Ha! This is why I swore off albums. Empty holes bring out the worst in obsessive-compulsive behavior. I think you answered your own question: But if you just have to fill those holes, I like the idea someone suggested of inserting photos of the slabbed coins.
