Washington is great and all, but he's already on the dollar bill. I say keep him on the dollar bill and replace the quarter with Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. He was a man with a vision. Ahead of his time. A God fearing man... And I quote, "Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that." So relative for today. We don't need George on two forms of currency. It's time for a change. Can I get an Amen?

No, no amen from me. While he's a noble figure, I would love to see ideals on our coinage instead of people. Just my preference. Take Washington off and find something else to put on it, something idealistic.

    Like free college!
    ;)

Just kidding about the free college. But seriously something idealistic like "Freedom" or "Liberty" or "Peace" etc.

I think I'm going to contact the naacp and write Obama, as well as getting a petition going, and contacting change.org

I think MLK Jr would disapprove, just like Washington would have objected to his face on currency.

I really don't like the fact that our coinage is centered around people. It's time to go back to the ideas of peace and liberty, which once dominated our coins.

That's a decent likeness too aside from the lips. Is he about to kiss Milania or put on lip liner lol.[/QUOTE]
I think Melania would make a nice model for a representation of lady liberty ;)

Still I don't think they'll ever too the draped bust design. Love both sides of the coin. And she's my kind of girl. Curvy and busty

No. Leave Washington or take people off all together and go back to designs like the past, but leave politics off our coins.

Hey, we are celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Mercury, SL quarter and Walking half. Might be a great time to revive those.

I'm ok with it as long as we are sticking with real, dead, people on our money. However, tradition early in America was that "Liberty" was on our coinage, because putting our leaders on was too "kinglike." I'd like to return to that ideal.

Our coinage was much better in the early era of our country when politics were taboo. Practically every real person that could be portrayed on coinage has some skeletons in the closet. Miss Liberty doesn't.

Real people are far too political and polarizing.

Why do we need to have any anthropomorphic figure on our money?

Let's get back to heraldic designs like the two cent piece!

Maybe we could come up with some designs representing how far technology has come? How about a heraldic image of the large hadron collider?

I'd go for heraldic designs, too. Maybe some coins have "liberty" while others have heraldic designs.
