What success have you all had nickel roll hunting? In the past I have found a few silver nickels, one buffalo (my favorite US coin type!) and a lot of 1950's and earlier. They seem to be one of the best rolls to hunt.

    1904 V nickel, a 1938 nickel, and 30 or so pre 1960 Jeffersons.

I have done well over the years but mostly for errors, die cracks, die chips, cuds and always on the lookout for full steppers that are not damaged otherwise.

I just got into nickels and I like them. Got a few war few buffalo. I like it have the older one still look like the new ones so I find stuff even in CWR

I was thinking if anyone wanted to trade nickels. I have a bunch of 38-49 nickels and being on the east coast they are mostly Philly. If anyone on the west coast has D's or S's they want to trade I would be willing. Not looking for anything of high quality just to fill holes in the book. If anyone is interested I can post the dates I have and dates I needs.

@coinMD, just for fun, have you checked to make sure you don't have any Hennings?

So I checked and no Hennings but I ended up finding a war nickel that I somehow overlooked.

I usually find 1-2 silvers a box. Found two buffalo Nickels in a box, about 5 all together. Once in a bag of nickels, there were $6.25 in quarters in there!

Quite a bit... to date I have found in 3 1/2 months:

    V Nickels (1): 1902
    Buffalos (3): 1920, 1937, dateless
    War Nickels (13): 1942S, 43P (2), 43S (4), 44P (2), 44D (3), 45D
    Key/Semi-Key Jeffs (15): 1938D, 39S (3), 42D (4), 49S (4), 51S (3)
    Proofs (5): 1964, 71S, 77S, 2000S, 06S

The 3 1939-S nickels were all found in an 11 day period 5/23-6/3... my current avatar

Had a good nickel box today... 24 pre-60s and 7 2009-Ds. Included were a 1916 Buffalo, 1943-S, 1938-P, and a 1951-D to fill another hole... It's hard to scan the Buffalo to get the date to show. Tilting it at an angle it becomes clear, but I'm having trouble getting a good pic of it...

    Now only missing: 38-S, 39-D, 42-P, 43-D, 44-D, 45-P, 45-S, 50-P, 50-D, 55-P

Why do you keep the 2009s?

Most people save them as they just are not as common to find in circulation as most other cents. I can go through a whole Loomis box and maybe find a few out of 2,500 coins.

    2 boxes yielded (3) 38s, 39, a 40 with a nice cud, 3 war nickels, a date less buffalo, a 1950, and (2) 2009, and about 50 pre 1960

Nice on the 38-S, the war nickels and the 50-P... were the 09's P's or D's?
