The cheek and the field will keep her from ever going higher - but the reverse is something quite spectacular in the grade. The strike is strong

That is a superb reverse. And a 34-s. Nice!

  13. I bought my first $3 gold 1857 probably overpaid but about 20,000 minted. I will grade it but it will be details due to the small gouge at the bottom.

I have a fair few half Eagles and dollars and some quarter Eagles but the $3 gold has always fascinated me and some day I would like a high grade one too.

Grabbed these for $30 ea at long beach. If they come back as p01 it was well worth it. All other p01 lowballs I found had huge prices on them.

Seems 02s & 03s are quite uncommon in p01 as some of the top lowball registries have them in fr02 :)

I'm afraid that might come back as fr02. Same with my 02s. They both might make p01 but if you'll notice, on my top obverse and your top reverse have the rim ever so slightly showing. Depending on the grader they can go either way. Check the lowball registries to see how common 99s's are in the lowest grade. If most are ag3 then your fr02 possible p01 would be highly sought after by them

    P 01 would be a 70-75 $ coin a tad bit more than melt I say

Yes, I don't mess with or know much about low balls. I was just saying it couldn't be worse than melt.

Guess I don't understand low ball coins but it is fun to watch you guys have a good time with them.
