Crazy question. Can one tell at which end this die crack starts. I’ll guess the bottom.

There are only areas that show a die crack. and none of them are at the rim so, I would just say that there was a weakness, and everything broke at once.

 

I would say the top bc once the die crack started and made its way towards the bottom it was striking a lot of coins. So most of the break will be at the top imo

I wonder at what point in the break would we start seeing zinc?

 

I think this reverse die had a short life as this die break I’ve only known of the one listed in cudsoncoins.
We wouldn’t start seeing zinc in the break bc the die break ofc is the die broken so the metal flows into those crevices when struck. has nothing to do with the Planchet itself.
