Perhaps Mario Puzo (author of The Godfather) was aware of this classic horse-head device used on the ancient coins of Sicily. Mine is from Entella.

Just took these pictures this morning. The modeling and detail on the horse is amazing considering the small size of the coin.

Interesting, I'm going to do some research of my own. I have a Carthage coin of my own; it's in very poor condition and I could nevrr figure out what I had but with the extremely knowledgeable people on this site they told me what I had (I wish it was in better condition). My coin was from the 2nd Punic war circa 203-201BC 1/2 shekel, reduced standard?, wreathed head of Tanit; horse standing right; head left, raised foreleg. I was given more information but you probably know what I'm going to say. I wish my piece of history was in better condition. They are beautiful coins. Thanks for sharing your unfo. Ive got to learn more, maybe someday I could find a coin that wont break my bank. Thanks again.
